About The Sonic Sanctuary
Science-led sound therapy in Maidstone & Kent.

James
Therapeutic Rhythm & Sound Facilitator, BA (Hons), MCMA
With a passion for sound and music spanning over 30 years, my journey from professional musician to sound therapist has taken me from stages across the UK to classrooms around the world, evolving into an educator along the way.
I hold a BA (Hons) in Music Performance, studied as a sound practitioner with the British Academy of Sound Therapy (BAST), and have developed a deep interest in vibroacoustic methods. I'm a registered member of the Complementary Medical Association (CMA), DBS checked, and fully insured.
I come at sound therapy from a science and physics perspective. The instruments I use (gongs, singing bowls, chimes, drums) produce vibrations that stimulate the vagus nerve, guide brainwave activity into relaxed states, and support your nervous system in shifting out of stress mode.
I don't ask anyone to believe in anything. If you come from a spiritual background, you're welcome here. If you're a complete sceptic, you're equally welcome. Different paths, same destination.
My goal is simple: give people a space where they can lie down, switch off, and let their nervous system do what it's designed to do when you give it the right conditions. No performance, no pressure, no woo.

The approach
Sound therapy is a complementary practice. It is not a substitute for medical treatment and I will never claim to cure, heal, or fix anything.
What I can offer is a space where research-backed techniques (brainwave entrainment, vagus nerve stimulation, nervous system regulation) are used to support relaxation, stress reduction, and overall wellbeing.
Whether you come for the science or the experience, the door is open. No belief required.
