Sound Therapy in Kent - Where to Find Sessions Near Maidstone and Dartford

James Edwards facilitating a sound bath session with gongs and singing bowls

If you're searching for sound therapy in Kent, you've probably noticed that options range from one-off workshops to spa add-ons that aren't really sound therapy at all. Here's a straightforward guide to what's actually available in the Maidstone and Dartford area - run by a trained sound therapist, not a spa.

What we offer

The Sonic Sanctuary runs three types of group experience and private 1:1 treatments, all based in Kent. Every session is facilitated by a practitioner trained at the British Academy of Sound Therapy (BAST), DBS checked, insured, and registered with the Complementary Medical Association.

Sound baths

Our most popular format. Lie on a mat or zero-gravity chair, close your eyes, and listen while gongs, Himalayan singing bowls, crystal bowls, and chimes create a deeply immersive soundscape. Sessions run 60-75 minutes and are held regularly at:

  • Loose Parish Pavilion, Maidstone (ME15 9RG) - a peaceful venue in a quiet village. Sound baths typically on Wednesday or Sunday evenings.
  • Royal British Legion, South Darenth (DA4 9AB) - evening sessions, free parking, welcoming space with room for both mats and zero-gravity chairs.

No experience needed. Bring a mat, blanket, pillow, and water. Tickets from £20 for a mat or £25 for a zero-gravity chair.

Drum circles

The active counterpart to a sound bath. Sit in a circle, pick up a djembe, and play. Guided rhythms, rhythm games, and group grooves - no musical experience needed whatsoever. Sessions run 50-60 minutes at:

  • Loose Parish Pavilion, Maidstone (ME15 9RG)
  • Royal British Legion, South Darenth (DA4 9AB)

All drums and percussion instruments provided. Tickets from £10.

Aerial sound baths

Our signature experience. Everything a sound bath offers, but you're suspended in an aerial hammock. The sensation of weightlessness combined with therapeutic sound creates something genuinely unique. Sessions run at:

  • Heavenly Fitness, Tovil, Maidstone (ME15 6RR) - limited to 13 hammocks plus a small number of zero-gravity chairs and mats. These sell out fast, so early booking is recommended.

Aerial hammock £30, zero-gravity chair £25, ground-level mat £20. No aerial experience needed - the hammocks are low and fully supportive.

Private 1:1 sessions

For a more personalised experience, we offer private sound therapy sessions from our garden studio in Maidstone. These can include vibroacoustic therapy (sound applied directly to the body via a specialist treatment bed), targeted work for specific concerns like chronic pain, anxiety, or sleep issues, and a tailored approach based on your needs.

How often do sessions run?

Most weeks there's something on. We rotate between Maidstone and Dartford venues, typically running 2-4 public sessions per month plus periodic aerial events. The full schedule is always up to date on our events page.

Who comes

Everyone. Genuinely. Our sessions attract people in their 20s through to their 80s. Couples, solo visitors, groups of friends, people who've never done anything like this before, and seasoned meditators who prefer sound over silence. The common thread is curiosity and a desire to switch off for an hour.

Getting here

From Maidstone town centre: Loose Parish Pavilion is a 10-minute drive south. Heavenly Fitness in Tovil is 5 minutes west. Both have parking.

From Dartford / North Kent: The Royal British Legion in South Darenth is just off the A225, roughly 10 minutes from Dartford town centre. Free parking directly outside.

From Tonbridge / Tunbridge Wells: Heavenly Fitness in Tovil is approximately 25 minutes via the A26. The aerial events draw people from across the county.

From London: South Darenth is accessible from the M25 (junction 3) or by train to Farningham Road station. Loose is reachable via Maidstone East (then a short taxi or drive).

New to sound therapy?

If you've never tried it, our Intro Pass gives you two sessions for a reduced price - enough to experience a sound bath and decide whether it's for you. No commitment beyond that.

Or just pick a session from the schedule and book. No preparation needed, no experience required. Just turn up, lie down, and listen.
