Sound baths in Maidstone

Regular group sessions at Loose Parish Pavilion and Heavenly Fitness. Lie back, let the gongs and singing bowls do the work. No experience required.

The Sonic Sanctuary is based in Loose, a quiet village on the edge of Maidstone. Most of the people who come to our group sessions live in and around Maidstone — Loose, Tovil, Bearsted, Coxheath, Park Wood — though we draw regulars from across Kent and the Medway towns too. Sessions run monthly at two venues, depending on the format you're after.

You don't need to bring anything except yourself, some warm comfortable clothes, and an open hour. Sound baths don't require you to believe anything, follow a tradition, or have any experience. You lie down. The instruments play. The hour does what it does.

Where we run sessions in Maidstone

Sound bath session at Loose Parish Pavilion

Loose Parish Pavilion

Well Street, Loose, Maidstone ME15 0HB

A quiet village hall surrounded by green. Easy parking on Well Street and in the nearby Loose car park. Step-free access. The kind of room where the world genuinely melts away once the candles are lit. Sound baths run with two tier options: zero-gravity chairs (£25) for those who prefer not to lie flat, and ground-level mats (£20).

Aerial sound bath with hammocks at Heavenly Fitness Maidstone

Heavenly Fitness

Tovil, Maidstone ME15 6RR

Home of the aerial sound baths. Two tier options: aerial silk hammocks (£30) where you lie suspended for the whole session — the combination of weightlessness and immersive sound is genuinely unlike anything else — or zero-gravity chairs (£25) if you'd rather stay grounded. Limited to 13 hammocks per session, so they often sell out.

Who comes from Maidstone?

Mostly people in their 30s, 40s and 50s who've been turning over the idea of trying a sound bath for a while. Equal mix of complete first-timers and regulars who come every month. People processing stress at work, sleep that isn't restorative, or just wanting a quiet hour that isn't their phone. Sceptics welcome — half the regulars came in unconvinced.

Getting to the venues

Loose Parish Pavilion is roughly a 10-minute drive from Maidstone town centre, just off the A229. Free on-street parking on Well Street and at the adjacent Loose Recreation Ground car park. Walkable from Loose village. Bus routes 89 and 12 stop close by.

Heavenly Fitness is in Tovil, about 5 minutes from Maidstone town centre, with parking on site. Easy to find from the A229 — the closest train station is Maidstone Barracks.

For both venues we recommend arriving 5–10 minutes before the session starts to settle in. Doors close once the session begins to protect the experience for everyone in the room.
